The Trouble With Triffids

When meteors rained from the skies
all vision was stricken from eyes
Awaiting mankind
was fate less-than-kind:
carnivorous plants' food supplies

Janette Scott tries to avoid being planted in Day of the Triffids (Steve Sekely, Freddie Francis, 1962)

I'd go to a far distant planette
to snare just a glimpse of young Janette
I can't cuz I'm just
a mechanical bust
A rockette ship--I couldn't manette!

The lovely and lithesome miss Scott
is out-of-this-world sci-fi hot
But Scott's place of birth
is down here on earth
In spite of which you won't get squat
